A 14-year-old boy reported being robbed Monday afternoon by a group of masked males in the 400 block of Granger Drive.

The boy told police he was walking on Granger Drive when four or five males wearing red bandanas over their faces approached him and told him to give them everything he had in his pockets, according to a police report.

When the victim refused to empty his pockets, he said one of the robbers shoved him to the ground while two others went through his pocket and took two mobile phones and a wallet, the boy told police.

After the robbery, the victim walked home and told his mother, who called police. Officers were unable to immediately locate any suspects and police were investigating the incident.

Custody dispute leads to domestic violence warrants

A Brookstone Drive woman told police Monday that a child custody issue allegedly lead to a violent altercation Friday.

The woman told police that her ex-husband had taken their child and another juvenile to Alabama for a child’s birthday, but did not bring her back on Friday as was previously agreed.

The man brought back the other juvenile and the woman said an argument ensued. The man allegedly struck her in the face before leaving the woman’s residence.

The responding officer determined there was probable cause to issue arrest warrants for the man, which were signed by a judge and sent to the jurisdiction where the man is believed to live.

Wanted man arrested on pot charges

A 22-year-old LaGrange man was arrested on charges of marijuana possession Monday night on Horace King Street.

Officers were responding to the 300 block of Horace King after a domestic disturbance call to 911. The 911 dispatcher told the officer one of the suspects was reported leaving the property and that he had an active warrant for his arrest. When the responding officer spoke to the man, he placed him under arrest and after searching his pockets and finding a small amount of suspected marijuana.

The man was taken to the Troup County Jail for booking and issued a citation for marijuana possession.

Alleged burglar takes dishwasher, floods house

A real estate agent told police Monday that someone burglarized a home he was listing and stole a refrigerator, oven and dishwasher during the weekend.

The apparent burglar did not turn off the water connected to the dishwasher, flooding half the house, according to a report. The damage to the home was estimated at $3,000 or more.

Police believe the burglar entered the home by forcing through a rear door.

Store claims employee used fake account to steal

An employee of a furniture rental store may face identify theft charges after she allegedly opened a store account under a fake name and used it to buy a washer and dryer before defaulting on the agreement, which was later charged off by the store.

Store managers became suspicious when the phony account holder’s name was spelled several different ways, and the only payments to the account came from a credit card in the employee’s name.

Officers attempted to contact the employee, but they were unable to reach her.
