Occupants of a Mitchell Avenue home said an armed man, who may have been a bondsman, burst into their home searching for someone Wednesday afternoon.

LaGrange police responded to the call at residence in the 100 block of Mitchell Avenue in reference to a dispute between a homeowner and a suspected bondsman.

The homeowner told police she was sitting in a room in the back of the house with her cousin and boyfriend when they heard a noise at the front of the house. An unknown man then entered the room.

The woman said the man began waving a handgun around asking for a person by the name of “Meat.” She told police he then opened the rear outside door and told another person he could come inside the home too.

According to the victim, the second person did not come in the residence.

The homeowner told police the man began asking her who she was hiding in the closet. When she told the man that she was not hiding anyone, he grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the way, she reported. He then began searching the closet.

The homeowner told officers that the man found no one and then left the residence.

LaGrange Police Department officers said the two eyewitnesses also gave a similar account of the incident.

Police were investigating.

LPD officers responded to a call of shots being fired in the area and found the potential victim. He told police he was walking across a parking lot when he saw what appeared to be a young black male wearing a red shirt near a dumpster.

The victim stated he briefly looked at the subject and saw him pull out a chrome handgun and begin shooting at him. The victim was not struck by any of the bullets, according to police.

The suspect then took off on foot.

Gun stolen from car

A man told officers Wednesday that someone broke into his 2002 Ford F150 in the 100 block of Dougherty Street on July 8 and stole a Ruger 9mm pistol valued at $600. The victim told officers he waited to file the report until he found the serial number for the gun.

Woman steals laundry detergent

Managers at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Lafayette Parkway told officers Tuesday that a female shoplifted $100 worth of laundry detergent. An employee saw the woman push a cart with the detergent past the cash registers, through the front doors and load the items into a waiting taxi. According to the report, employees confronted the woman, but she was uncooperative, jumped into the cab and left.
