LAGRANGE – The Troup County Sharks are well-represented at the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association state meet that is being held this weekend in Cumming.

Fifteen members of the Sharks are competing in 22 total events in the meet that kicked off on Friday and wraps up today.

The local swimmers qualified for state by finishing high in the district tournament that was held at the Mike Daniel Recreation Center two weeks ago.

“They all swam well (at district),” Sharks head coach Peter Doig said. “I would say that all of them that competed set at least one (personal) record.”

It was the first time the Sharks have hosted a meet in a year, and Doig said everything went smoothly.

“It went very well,” Doig said. “It was well run with the parents that helped organize it and the recreation department here. There were no glitches.”
