CARROLLTON — The West Georgia Technical College board of directors selected its new leadership team at last week’s board meeting.

Tommy Britt of Troup County replaces Bill Hightower of Haralson County as chairman of the board. Aaron Mabon of Meriwether County replaces Tommy Britt as chair-elect.

Britt is the vice president of human resources for West Georgia Health, where he oversees several operations, including the Community Service Clinic, education services, employee health, employee safety and human resources. The Thomaston native earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from LaGrange College and received his master of science degree in human resource management from Troy University.

Mabon is a financial advisor for Ellis & Ellis Investment Management, LLC. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance at Mercer University and resides in Greenville.

“We greatly appreciate Bill Hightower’s service this past year as chairman of the board of directors, and for his leadership and vision in moving the college forward on behalf of our students,” said West Georgia Tech President Steve G. Daniel. “We are looking forward to working with Tommy Britt and Aaron Mabon in their leadership capacities in the coming year. Our board of directors play an important role through their guidance and leadership for our college and we thank each member of the board for their service as we continue to advance the mission of our institution.”

Britt and Mabon will serve in their respective leadership roles for one year. The board of directors consists of two members each from Carroll, Coweta, Douglas, Haralson, Heard, Meriwether and Troup counties.
