A 30-year-old LaGrange man was arrested Friday morning on charges of criminal damage to property under the Family Violence Act after he smashed his mother’s car windows with rocks.

Quintin M. McGhee faces felony charges after police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Jackson Street in reference to a domestic disturbance, according to police reports. McGhee and his mother were apparently arguing when he allegedly threw three large rocks through both of the driver-side doors and rear windshield of his mother’s car.

McGhee left the scene, but officers found him a short time later returning to the residence. Officers placed him under arrest and, according to a police report, McGhee stated that he “did not care because it was a misdemeanor.”

Police took McGhee to the Troup County Jail for booking and informed him that due to extent of the damage, the charge would be a felony.

Building on Borton Street damaged

An anonymous tip regarding damaged property led police to the 1000 block of Borton Street on Friday morning where an officer found a shattered glass door of a building.

When the office arrived, he “observed that one glass door had been shattered,” and the other had a “large hole towards the upper part of the glass pane” that had shattered in a spider-web pattern.

The officer was able to contact the building’s owner, who noted that the damage must be recent because he’d been there within the last week. Officers valued the damage at less than $500.

Deceased man found

A LaGrange police officer discovered a man deceased inside a home in the 200 block of North Page Street. A friend of the man called police after he’d not been able to make contact with the man. Authorities were investigating.
