Logan Moody is heading to Athens with a championship in hand.

Moody, who graduated from LaGrange High this spring and is going to the University of Georgia on a baseball scholarship, was a key part of the East Cobb Yankees team that won the Connie Mack World Series in New Mexico.

The Yankees wrapped up the championship with a 7-5 victory over Prairie Gravel on Friday.

Moody, who was playing first base in the championship game, did his part by going 1-for-1 with a walk and a run scored.

After winning their first game 4-2, the Yankees dropped their second game 3-1, putting them in a precarious position in the double-elimination tournament.

The Yankees didn’t lose again, though.

They won their final four games to finish as the tournament champion.

The Yankees beat the Dallas Mustangs 7-3, the Louisiana Elite 14-5 and the Southern California Renegades 12-6 before dispatching Prairie Gravel in the title game.

Moody was a pitcher and first baseman for the Yankees.

It was the second major title of the summer for Moody and the Yankees.

In the WWBA world championship in July, Moody was named the tourmament’s co-MVP as the Yankees went 11-0.

Moody hit .519 with four home runs and 16 RBIs, and he also excelled on the pitcher’s mound.

Moody helped the Grangers reach the state playoffs last season, and he pitched a complete game in a Game 3 loss to Evans in the first round.

After the season, Moody received a scholarship offer from Georgia, and he accepted.

Logan Moody will be joining his brother Drew Moody on the Georgia baseball team.

Drew Moody, a right-handed pitcher, will be a junior next spring.
