WEST POINT — A construction worker was home recovering with a bruised hip after an accident at a work site off Gabbettville Road in West Point on Aug. 7, according to West Point police.

The man was working around a Batson Cook Construction site when he fell 9 feet onto a concrete slab, the Daily News heard on Troup 911 radio traffic.

Sgt. Tunya Brown with the West Point Police Department said the man, whom authorities didn’t identify, was flown to a Columbus hospital for treatment. He was released later that night, she stated.

According to Brown, other construction workers at the site told her the man would be out at least two weeks to recuperate from the accident.

There was no information available on what caused the worker to fall onto the concrete slab or if OSHA was investigating the accident.
