A man told police Monday that a stray bullet penetrated the roof of a storage unit in the 600 block of New Franklin Road sometime during the past week.

The man called police after he found a hole in a tin and plywood ceiling and the bullet on the floor inside the unit. Police estimated the bullet caused about $50 in damage to the building.

Officers wrote in their report that there were “no solvability factors” in the case, but took photos of the evidence and issued the man a case number and victims’ rights pamphlet.

Furniture burglarized from home

A Troup Street woman reported to police Monday that her home was burglarized sometime between Sunday evening and Monday morning.

The woman said a thief kicked in a rear door to the home and entered the residence to take a couch, love seat and coffee table valued collectively at about $2,000. The responding officer photographed the scene — including two muddy boot prints on the door — and dusted for finger prints.

The responding officer also attempted to speak with other residents in the area but was unable to contact anyone. The burglary was under investigation.

Woman discovers identity stolen

A LaGrange woman called police Monday after she discovered someone used her credit card to make unauthorized purchases at two out-of-state grocery stores.

The woman received a letter from her bank stating that someone used her card to make two purchases at Publix and Win Dixie grocery stores in St. Petersburg, Florida, during July. The total amount fraudulently spent was nearly $580, the report said.

The woman told police she stayed in a hotel in June and later learned an employee there had been terminated after managers discovered the employee was using a credit card reader machine to fraudulently scan and obtain customers’ information.

The woman was issued a case number and the information was forwarded to LaGrange police’s criminal investigations section.

Thief steals televisions

A Wynnwood Drive woman told police Monday two televisions were stolen from her home sometime during the day.

The woman returned home from work to discover 55-inch and 40-inch TVs missing from her apartment and a back door unlocked. A police report noted that the thief did not appear to have forced entry into the home.

Officers photographed the scene and attempted to dust for fingerprints. The woman was issued a case number and attempted to speak with neighbors but were unable to make contact.
