Walk to End Alzheimer’s set to raise awareness, research

The Alzheimer’s Association hosts the Walk to End Alzheimer’s at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 19 at Vernon Woods Retirement Community at 101 Vernon Woods Drive off Vernon Street. Registration for the 2 mile walk is available at www.georgiawalk.org by selecting LaGrange from the list on the left of the page. Participants may also register at 8 a.m. the day of the walk. A ceremony at 9 a.m. precedes the event. The walk is planned to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Church yard sale to benefit outeach projects

Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, 200 Lafayette Parkway, hosts a yard sale 8 a.m. to noon Sept. 19. The yard sale benefits Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Camp Viola, the clothing center, LaGrange Personal Aid and Twin Fountains, along with Florence Hand Home, where they host an annual birthday party for residents. Anyone interested in donating items for the sale or seeking more information may call 706-885-9388.
