A woman told police an argument with a man led to him breaking her cell phone and hitting her with a rock.

The woman claimed the two got into an argument while driving and he asked her to get out of the car, but she refused, so they both went to the man’s parents’ home on Dougherty Street. There, she said the man took her phone and locked the woman out, so she knocked on the door until one of the man’s relatives let her in.

She went to the man’s bedroom to retrieve her phone, but said he broke it in half then gave it back. She borrowed one of his relative’s phones to call someone to pick her up and walked outside, where she said the man followed and threw rocks at her, one striking her in the shoulder blade. She then called 911.

The reporting officer noted she had a mark on her shoulder and appeared to have marks on her face where it looked like she had been slapped. The man denied having any physical contact with the woman or breaking her phone, and his relative at the home said he never saw any physical incident.

The woman initially didn’t want to press charges, but then decided to pursue warrants, according to the officer’s report.

Man accused of trying to take games, lozenges at warehouse

A man faces theft charges for allegedly trying to walk out of the Wal-Mart Distribution Center on Callaway Church Road with items and possibly trying to sneak out two video games.

According to police, the man was detained by employees at the business after he set off an alarm while trying to leave and they found two breath lozenges in his pocket, which he said came from a box that broke open. He said he placed the items in his pocket and forgot about them.

Employees also found two video game discs that were wrapped in paper towels and said the man was visible on security cameras placing them under a counter in an office near an exit. The man also claimed the items came from the warehouse floor and he had forgotten about them due to a family emergency. He didn’t explain why he had placed the games — valued at a total of about $110 — which were not in their cases, in the office.

The man was arrested and taken to Troup County Jail.

In other theft reports Thursday:

• An employee at Fosters Auto Sales and Service, 1511 Hamilton Road, said someone entered several unlocked cars at the location and stole the vehicles’ stereos and stole a tire from a 2003 Chevrolet Impala and battery from a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck. The total value of items taken was estimated at $500.

In a separate report, the employee also reported a 1996 GMC Sierra valued at $5,000 stolen from the lot. He suspected an ex-employee in the matters.

• A man reported his 2013 Hyundai Accent valued at $12,000 stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Jackson Street.
