Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that they arrested two Troup County men after a week-long investigation of a person severely beaten with a baseball bat.

Investigators arrested Joshua Guenther, 17, and Ronald Ken, 55, charging both with aggravated assault. The victim sustained multiple lacerations as a result, according to sheriff’s officials. The date and location of the incident wasn’t available this morning.

Guenther and Kent were in the Troup County jail awaiting a bond hearing Thursday.

Investigators had not released any further information as of this morning.

Woman allegedly threatened after eviction

A woman said she was threatened Thursday during an argument after evicting a tenant at Sky Bar, 121 Commerce Ave.

According to a police report, a representative of the property manager reported finding drug paraphernalia in the tenant’s room during the eviction. The reporting officer noted the remains of several suspected “roaches,” rolled marijuana cigarettes, on the floor and baggies that she said were typically used for marijuana.

The officer said she also found a baggy containing suspected marijuana in another person’s room. The suspected drugs were taken into evidence at the police department to be destroyed.

About an hour after the first report, the officer was called back to the bar, where the property representative said she and the evicted tenant got into an argument and the tenant told her “I know where you live,” which she took as a threat to come to her home and harm her or her family. She worried that the tenant also had gang affiliations.

The officer spoke with the evicted tenant, who admitted to the statement, but said she made it out of anger. The officer reported the tenant didn’t appear to care about the implied threat.

The officer issued the victim a case card and advised how to get a copy of the report for documentation.

Man allegedly flees officer during arrest

A man wanted on outstanding warrants allegedly ran from an officer while being placed under arrest, according to a report.

An officer saw the wanted man on Daniel Street and started to take him into custody at Daniel Street Food Mart, 510 Daniel St., when he “snatched away” from the officer and ran. The officer’s report states that he told the suspect he was under arrest and chased him, using “reasonable force” to subdue him.

The suspect was taken to West Georgia Medical Center for evaluation and then the LaGrange Police Department for an interview on another case. He was issued a citation for obstruction.

Thefts

• A LaGrange man said an identity thief used a credit card in his name at an unknown Best Buy location to charge $320.98, which now was in collections. He said his card company required him to file a report to find out more about the charge and where it was made.

• An employee of LaGrange Farm Supply, 300 East Bacon St., reported Thursday that his generator, valued at $1,100, was stolen two days prior. He didn’t know the brand, but described the generator as red and sitting on wheels. He suspected a former employee, who was one of few to have access to the generator. He later again met with the reporting officer and told her he had spoken on the phone with the ex-employee, who allegedly admitted to taking the generator and said he would return it today. The officer said if the generator was returned, the victim could choose not to press charges.
