Church yard sale to raise funds for disabled children’s baseball field

Advent Lutheran Church, 1416 Vernon Road, hosts a fundraising yard sale 8 a.m. to noon. The sale is to benefit Miracle League, which will create a baseball field in LaGrange for kids with special needs to have the opportunity to play ball. The sale will feature furniture, artwork, books, household items, electronics, a dishwasher and clothes. Benefit ride to help 3 year old with leukemia

A benefit ride is set for 11 a.m. Oct. 10 at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, 101 N. Davis Road in LaGrange, to raise money for the family of Maylee Highland, 3, who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia on Sept. 15, according to event organizers. The young girl is undergoing treatment, which will continue for six months. Registration for the event begins at 10 a.m. at the church. Cost to participate is $20 per motorcycle or vehicle and $5 per passenger. Any vehicle is welcome. There also will be a 50/50 raffle at $1 per ticket and $8 barbecue plates on sale. Donations may be dropped off at Pizza Villa on Lafayette Parkway. Anyone seeking more information may call Michael Bartlett at 706-594-8322.
