TROUP COUNTY — The Troup County Sheriff’s Office official cars and SUVs may look a little different as they patrol the interstates, back roads and unincorporated areas of the county.

The nation’s official motto, “In God We Trust”, originally signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956, now proudly adorns all the department’s vehicles, according to Sheriff James Woodruff.

According to a press release, government funding was not used to buy the decals.

Sheriff Woodruff said the “In God We Trust” labels were paid for by citizens, businesses and churches who wanted to show their support for the Troup County Sheriffs Office and contributed to the project.

The decals were added to the patrol vehicles last week.
