LaGRANGE — The Troup County Sheriff’s Office said a 10-year-old child was injured Thursday evening while attending a school fall festival at Rosemont Elementary on Hamilton Road.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Stewart Smith, public information officer, stated the 911 call came in around 6:40 p.m.

Three students were playing with a football outside the school, and while playing, the students’ heads collided, said Yolanda Stephen, director of public relations for Troup County School System. The other students “were doing fine,” she said.

Smith said EMTs on the scene made the decision to airlift the child because he was temporarily unconscious. Stephen said the move was a precautionary measure. The boy was flown to Children’s Health Care of Atlanta at Egleston, according to a report.

The child “is doing great and will probably go home soon,” Stephen said this morning. “Upon his arrival at the hospital last night, it’s reported that he was alert, talking and trying to FaceTime friends.”
