LaGRANGE — The LaGrange Symphony Orchestra continues its 2015-2016 concert series with Legends of Fire at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Callaway Auditorium on the campus of LaGrange College.

In the program, Beethoven’s Prometheus overture and Stravinsky’s telling of the legend of the firebird frame Mozart’s 40th Symphony in G minor and the unbounded love between Spartacus and Phrygia in Khachaturian’s rendering of the story from his ballet.

The two legends of fire — Prometheus and Firebird, which are both music to ballets — surround works that demonstrate fire of different kinds: that of human love and a special spark of creativity.

Music director and conductor Richard Prior eagerly anticipates the performance of these exciting pieces of music by the talented musicians in the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets may be purchased in advance from the symphony office by calling 706-882-0662 prior to the day of the concert. Tickets will also be sold at the Callaway Auditorium box office beginning at 6:30 p.m. the night of the concert.

Prior will give a short pre-concert lecture at 6:45 p.m. to any attendees who would like to know more about the music they will be hearing during the concert. Doors for the concert itself will open immediately following the conclusion of the lecture.

This concert is sponsored by the LaGrange Symphony Guild, a group of volunteers who endorse the work of the symphony by raising funds in support of a number of youth and education initiatives.

Adult tickets are $30 for mezzanine seating and $20 for seats in the orchestra and gallery. Special value seats in the first four rows of the orchestra section are available for $10. All tickets for students 12 and older are $5. Children under 12 are admitted free with an adult but will need a ticket.
