LaGrange police detectives said they arrested two juveniles in the process of burglarizing Callaway Stadium on Thursday evening.

Officers responded to the stadium at 801 Dallis St. about 6 p.m. to the burglary in progress and said they saw an 11 year old and a 15 year old fleeing the scene.

Detectives stated they also recovered an undisclosed amount of merchandise on the youths.

The juveniles were taken into custody and each of them were charged with burglary.

Callaway Stadium has also recently been the target of vandals.

According to police reports, LaGrange officers responded to the facility twice this week after the maintenance director reported damage to both concessions stands.

The director told officers on Tuesday someone had destroyed a rolling steel door by trying to pry it open with a broom handle.

Monday afternoon, LaGrange police also responded to the stadium after it was reported someone had damaged the home- and visitor-side concession stands by beating in the door knobs, prying open the roll down windows and breaking a decorative window.

The total cost for all the repairs was estimated at $3,350.

Police have not said whether the burglaries and the vandalism are related.

Detectives said they are still investigating both incidents.

Son strikes mom, runs from home

A man upset with his mom over a lack of food inside their home in the 700 block of Hammett Road reportedly hit her in the face and tried to prevent her from calling police.

LaGrange officers responded about 9 a.m. Thursday and discovered the son had run into the woods behind the house.

The woman told police she and her son got into a heated argument and he abruptly struck her in the face. She said when she called 911, he allegedly grabbed her cell phone and threw it against the wall.

The son then reportedly ransacked the home, throwing and pushing over items, stole the cell phone and took off before police arrived.

A LaGrange police K9 unit was called out to try and track the son down in the woods behind the home, but officers did not find him.

Warrants were issued for his arrest and police are still investigating the incident.

Drugs left on lawn

A woman called LaGrange Police Wednesday afternoon after finding a bag of suspected marijuana someone left behind on her front yard in the 200 block of Hammett Road.

The homeowner showed officers a set of tire tracks that appeared to run off the road and through part of her lawn. LaGrange police said it appeared the driver failed to maintain his lane.

The woman said she found the small bag of pot next to the tire tracks, which officers suspect may have been thrown from the vehicle.

According to the police report, a LaGrange officer secured the suspected drugs to be destroyed.

Entering autos

• Someone reported about 4 p.m. Wednesday a Coach purse, wallet, military ID and three prescriptions stolen out of an unlocked Toyota Camry in the 100 block of Old Pond Road. The total value was about $230.

• About 8 p.m. Wednesday, a man told LaGrange police that someone entered two of his vehicles in the 300 block of Preakness Drive. The homeowner said a Michael Kors purse worth $400 was taken from a Nissan Altima and a Ruger SR .22-caliber handgun valued at $450 was stolen from a Chevrolet Silverado.

• A woman said someone entered an unlocked Ford Ranger about 4 a.m. Thursday at the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 955 Lafayette Parkway while she and another person were shopping. The thief stole a purse, Kindle Fire, a laptop and a cell phone. The value of all the items taken was estimated at $430.
