Debt is a four letter word!

Why am I preaching? The weather is getting cold, which means Christmas is coming fast. That means people will be buying stuff they do not need to impress people they do not like!

That is not smart, but that is what people do. They become a slave to MasterCard at 18 percent, maybe 29 percent if they pay late.

Several years ago we had a pretty lady that worked here and Mansour’s was having their sale of the week. I will never forget one of my agents with wisdom said, “You have a lot of clothes, why do you need to go?”

She responded, “It does not matter, they are on sale.”

If you do not need it, do not buy it. Trust me, we see people that cannot buy a house because they have so much credit card debt.

A local pastor told me today a lady out in Texas had to have a big wedding. She got several credit cards and put the whole wedding on several cards.

The sad news is they got a divorce before the cards got paid off. The more I study Dave Ramsey’s program the more I believe he is correct — do not use credit cards, wait and pay cash.

When you pay with cash it makes it a little harder to spend the money. Let’s go through this Christmas season with some real will power. You will be thankful you did.
