LaGrange police are investigating a reported shooting just before 2 a.m. Sunday on Oak Drive near Juniper Street.

Officers found the victim at a residence in the 700 block of Juniper Street. He told police he was walking east on Oak Drive toward Juniper Street when a male in an unknown color hoodie approached him and shot him.

According to Lt. Dale Strickland, LaGrange police administrative services commander, detectives found no evidence that a shooting took place on Oak Drive.

However, Strickland said officers did find evidence that contradicted the victim’s original statement that he was randomly shot. The man has stopped cooperating with police, Strickland stated.

The victim was shot in the finger and leg, added Strickland.

Shots reportedly fired at three females

Three females told LaGrange police someone in a red, older-model Chevrolet Camaro started shooting at them as they walked home from the movie theater just after 11 a.m. Saturday.

The girls told officers they were walking toward East Depot Street when they noticed the Camaro with rims and tinted windows circle around a few times and an occupant was looking at them.

According to police, the females stated as they were close to East Depot Street, the red Camaro again circled around, stopped in the middle of the roadway and they heard about seven to eight gunshots.

The girls told officers they got down on the ground and the vehicle sped off.

The victims described the driver as a heavy-set black male with a low hair cut wearing a white T-shirt and a gold chain.

At the same time, a police officer around Alford Street reported hearing about six gunshots in that area.

Police are investigating.
