A LaGrange man managed to escape a reported attempt on his life just before noon Monday.

The victim told LaGrange Police Department officers he was driving his car in the 1200 block of Lindsey Street when he felt his tire go flat and then noticed an unknown black male pointing a gun at him.

The male stated he fled from the area to Jefferson Street, where he met officers.

The victim was not hurt in the incident, a press release stated.

According to detectives, a bullet hole was found in the left rear tire and trunk of the victim’s 1979 brown Chevy Malibu.

LPD officers searched the car and checked the man’s information and learned he did not have an active driver’s license.

The victim was arrested and cited for driving unlicensed.

Detectives have not located the gunman in the incident.

Stolen tractor-trailer found

Detectives with the LaGrange Police Department, with the help of law enforcement officers in Valley, Alabama, were able to track down an 18-wheeler stolen from the Pilot station at 2408 Whitesville Road over the weekend.

According to LPD Sgt. William Nelson, the tractor-trailer was discovered Monday afternoon off Interstate 85 exit 77 in Valley on a parking lot behind the Jet Pep fueling station.

The driver of the rig reported it missing about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

He told police he left the white 2010 International Prostar parked in the driveway of the Pilot leading to the pumps Saturday because he needed to get the air brakes fixed. The driver said when he returned on Sunday, the rig was gone.

He told officers he locked the doors and secured the vehicle before leaving it.

The truck was valued at $40,000.

The trailer, a Fontaine Flatbed, was valued at about $36,900.
