LaGRANGE — The trial of a 28-year-old man accused of shooting and killing a Forrest Avenue woman last year started Tuesday in Troup County Superior Court.

Demario Antwon Goodrum, 28, of Mason Street, is charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a firearm, two counts of driving under the influence and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Prosecutors allege he fatally shot Tarvanisha Boyd, 25, of Forrest Avenue, in the early morning hours of Dec. 20, 2014, then fled the scene and crashed into Berta Weathersbee Elementary School.

In her opening statements, Chief Assistant District Attorney Monique Kirby laid out the moments leading up to Boyd’s death inside the Forrest Avenue home she shared with her partner, Krystal Sinkfield, 33.
