LAGRANGE – They’ve met every challenge they’ve faced so far.

After Friday’s road win over the Troup Tigers, the LaGrange Grangers are 8-0.

That perfect record will be on the line today at 2:30 p.m. as LaGrange takes on a strong South Atlanta team in the War Eagle Classic that will be held at Woodward Academy.

Also today, the LaGrange girls’ team will play Westminster at 1 p.m.

LaGrange’s teams will play again on Tuesday.

The Lady Grangers will play Grady at 1 p.m., with the Grangers facing Dutchdown at 2:30 p.m.

The Grangers have already played a handful of strong teams this season, including Callaway, Troup, Wodward Academy and Whitewater.

Now LaGrange will take on a South Atlanta team that has a winning tradition under veteran head coach Michael Reddick.

Beginnining in the 2006-2007 season, South Atlanta has won at least 22 games all but once, and it went 27-5 last season and reached the third round of the state tournament.

South Atlanta has made multiple appearances in the state-championship game, and it won the title in 2009 while being led by current NBA standout Derrick Favors.

This season’s South Atlanta team is off to a fast start.

The Hornets are 7-1, and they’ve won four consecutive games.

The Grangers, who also beat Central-Carroll in a preseason game, made it eight straight regular-season wins to begin the season with a 62-44 victory over Troup on Friday.

The Grangers have had their share of blowout victories, but they’ve also shown the ability to win the close ones having won three games decided by four or fewer points.

On Tuesday, LaGrange will take on a 6-5 Dutchtown team.

If the Grangers could find a way to win today and Tuesday, they would begin play in the LaGrange Toyota Classic on Dec. 28 with a 10-0 record.

LaGrange’s girls’ team will look to snap a two-game losing streak today.

The Lady Grangers were 5-1 after a road win over Callaway on Dec. 12, but they followed that up with close losses to Callaway and Troup.

In today’s game, LaGrange (5-3) will play a 5-2 Westminster team that has won five in a row since dropping its first two games of the season.

Tuesday’s game will be against Grady, which has lost three in a row to fall to 3-7.
