LaGRANGE — A taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday evening, according to LaGrange police.

The driver with Radio Co-Op told police she was dispatched to the 100 block of Sunset Street. When she arrived, a young male “walked out of the shadows,” according to the police report of the incident. He got into the back seat and told her she was “at the wrong address.”

More males then came up to her side of the car and one pointed a gun at her, telling her to “give me everything you got,” according to the report. She handed over about $80 and the robbers fled.

“One (of the robbers), it looks like, called the cab and got into cab, and the other three approached” the driver, said LaGrange Police Lt. Dale Strickland of the Criminal Investigations division.

Officers checked the area but didn’t find any suspects. Detectives were still investigating the incident this morning.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
