Two unbeaten teams remain in tournament

LAGRANGE – There are two unbeaten teams remaining in the LaGrange Toyota Basketball Classic, and they’ll face off at 7:30 p.m. today with the championship on the line.

Upson-Lee, which dispatched LaGrange 77-65 on Tuesday, is one of the two teams with a 2-0 record in the tournament, and Mundy’s Mill is the other.

After outlasting Opelika 46-43 on Monday, Mundy’s Mill won its second straight tournament game by beating WD Mohammed 65-57 on Tuesday.

Upson-Lee opened its tournament stay with a 47-42 win over Lithia Springs before beating the host Grangers on Tuesday.

In Tuesday’s game, Mundy’s Mill soared to a 51-28 lead through three periods before WD Mohammed scored 29 points in the fourth quarter to make the final score more respectable.

Cartez Crane led Mundy’s Mill with 17 points, and he scored 15 of those points in the first half.

Kaelon Harris added 12 points for Mundy’s Mill, and he was 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Tareef Sabree led WD Mohammed with 16 points, and he had nine points in the fourth quarter.

Also on Tuesday, it was Lithia Springs outlasting Opelika 71-69.

Jachin Capers had a big day for Lithia Springs with 20 points, and James Williams scored 16 points.

For Opelika, it was King Frazier leading the way with 22 points, and Jordan Heard scored 18 points.

Trailing 32-28 at the half, Lithia Springs outscored Opelika 25-21 in the third period, and it was tied heading to the fourth quarter.
