LaGRANGE — It may be several weeks before all roads washed out by recent flooding can be repaired, officials said Wednesday.

At least four roads remain closed today as crews continue to survey the damage, according to county roads engineer James Emery.

“The details of how each of these structures is going to be replaced, which ones need to be replaced and which ones need to be repaired … those details are still evolving,” Emery said.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is assisting the county in surveying the damaged roads, he added. More assistance could come after Gov. Nathan Deal on Wednesday added Troup County to a list of disaster areas statewide.

The following roads were partially or completely closed as of press time today:

• Plymouth Drive between Colonial Court to Jefferson Place.

• Towns Road between Hines and Costley roads.

• Bill Taylor Road.

• Dallas Mill Road.

• Perkins Road between Keith Road and the county line.

• Perdue Road at Greenville Road, one lane.

• North View Point Drive, one lane.

• Clearview Court, one lane.

• Warner Road between Gray Hill School and Jim Turner roads, one lane.

• Camp Viola Road, one lane.

• Blanks Road, one lane.

• Flat Shoals Church Road north of Salem Farm Road, one lane.

Emery, the county roads engineer, asked for the public’s patience as local and state crews make plans to fix the roads.

“I just don’t have enough engineers and surveyors to get around,” Emery said. “The assistance from GDOT has been very helpful right now.”
