Rainfall tops 20 inches over one week in Troup County

Water rushes from a storm drain as rain continues to fall this morning. The total from Wednesday and overnight stood at 4 3/4 inches at 7 a.m today, for a total of more than 20 inches of rainfall in LaGrange over the last week.
The bad news is that more rain fell in Troup County. The good news is that it’s almost over.

But the forecast is for the rain to move out, followed by more seasonable temperatures. The highs Friday through Sunday are expected to be in the mid-50s, with lows in the mid-30s. Normal extremes for this time of year in LaGrange are 56 and 38.
The mercury hit another record high this week, reaching 74 Tuesday at LaGrange-Callaway Airport. That breaks the previous mark of 72 set in 1984. Record highs also were set Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
