Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday they arrested a man accused involved in numerous mail thefts from homes around the county.

Officials said Robert Brent Jackson, 35, of Columbus, remains in custody in a jail outside Troup County.

TCSO investigators stated they worked extensively with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Postal Inspectors investigate the thefts.

The 35 year old will face several counts of theft from the U.S. Mail, identity fraud and forgery, TCSO investigators added.

Offcials said they are in the process of filing those charges.

Burglaries

• A woman told LaGrange police early Tuesday morning someone broke into her home in the 1400 block of Austin Street and stole several TVs and her living room furniture.

According to the victim, she left for work around 8 a.m. Monday and returned home around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday when she discovered the burglary.

She told officers someone took off with a 60-inch tube-style TV, two 32-inch flat-screen TVs, two brown end tables, one love seat and a chair.

The victim said the total value of the items stolen was $1,100.

Officers said it appeared the burglar came through the front door of the home.

• LaGrange police responded to a burglary call early Tuesday afternoon around 12:15 at a home in the 900 block of Callaway Avenue.

The homeowner told officers he was gone from 9:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. and during that time, someone broke into his house and stole a 32-inch Phillips flat-screen TV, a pair of brown Timberland boots and a Braves jersey.

The estimated value of the items was $310.
