PINE MOUNTAIN — On Sunday, the Callaway Gardens School of Needle Arts will welcome its students for the 45th year.

The public is invited for free to visit three components: a judged exhibit of needlework entries from across the United States, a boutique offering needlework supplies and a bookstore featuring current to out-of-print collectible needlework books.

Hosted by Atlanta’s Dogwood Chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America, the bookstore and exhibit are open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday to Jan. 27 in the Mountain Creek Conference Center, U.S. Highway 27 behind the Mountain Creek Inn.

The public also may attend Merchandise Night, where vendors sell the latest in needlework tools, beads, wearable art and other activities. Merchandise Nights is Jan. 19 and 24 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Mountain Creek Ballrooms within the Mountain Creek Inn complex.

The Callaway Gardens School of Needle Arts is nationally recognized as one of the premier needlework schools in the nation, with hundreds of needlework enthusiasts attending the two sessions. Session 1 is Sunday to Jan. 21 and session 2 is Jan. 22–27. The teachers participating in the school are nationally certified needle artists.

Teachers often showcase original works of art they designed. The finished products resemble paintings, photographs and sculptures.
