Warriors get another big win at home

LAGRANGE – The LaGrange Academy Warriors fell to visiting Bethlehem Christian 60-54 in a GISA Region 1-AA showdown on Friday.

The Warriors had a 17-16 lead after the first quarter, but they were outscored 19-7 in the second period to trail by 11 points at the break.

The Warriors kept it close in the second half, but they were unable to rally for the home win.

LaGrange Academy played much of the game without senior standout Whit Moreman, who injured in his ankle and was unable to return.

Without Moreman, fellow post player Lincoln Anderson picked up the scoring slack and led his team with 26 points.

Anderson had 18 points in the second half as the Warriors kept it close.

Will Trotter added 12 points and made a pair of 3-pointers, and Moreman had eight points before leaving the game in the second period.

In Friday’s girls’ game, it was LaGrange Academy falling 40-37.

Laney Anderson had a big game for the Lady Warriors with 15 points, and she made a pair of 3-pointers, and Leah Major added 12 points.

LAFAYETTE CHRISTIAN: The Lady Cougars lost to home-standing Heirway Christian 56-53 on Friday.

Abby Hudson led Lafayette Christian with 20 points, Rory Kloster added 19 points, and Roni Bowman scored 10 points.

Devon Taylor contributed 12 points and five steals for Lafayette Christian.

In the boys’ game, the Cougars moved to 10-0 with a dramatic 69-66 win over Heirway Christian in overtime.

Jemi Reed led the Cougars with 28 points, and he scored 16 of those points in the fourth quarter and overtime.

Marcus Mobley added 23 points and 12 rebounds, and Anteveis Sands had 13 points, five rebounds and four steals.

WRESTLING: LaGrange’s run in the state duals came to a close with a loss to Starr’s Mill on Friday.

LaGrange went 1-1 on the first day of the Class AAAAA state duals to stay alive, setting up a rematch with Starr’s Mill.

Those same two teams met for the area championship, with Starr’s Mill hanging on for the close win.

On Friday, Starr’s Mill beat LaGrange 44-29.

Starr’s Mill went on to lose to Cass in its next match.
