Two area businesses were robbed at gunpoint within hours of each other, according to the LaGrange Police Department.

The first incident happened just after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wing-N-Burger Factory restaurant at 900 Hogansville Road.

An employee told police a tall, thin, black male walked into the restaurant, ordered a meal and, while paying for it, demanded the clerk give him the money out of the cash drawer.

The employee said when she questioned the male, he lifted up his shirt and showed the end of a handgun.

The robber took an unknown amount of cash and walked out of the restaurant toward West Point and Whiting streets.

The clerk added the male was wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt, a camouflage baseball cap and leopard pattern sunglasses with the letters DG on the side.

The second incident was about 1 a.m. today at the Summit gas station at 208 Vernon St.

A store employee told LPD officers an unknown black male approached her outside the store and forced her inside.

The employee stated the male forced her to open the cash register and he took an undetermined amount of cash, then fled on foot.

Lt. Dale Strickland, head of LPD’s Criminal Investigation Section, said investigators do not believe the two cases are related.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
