LaGRANGE — Registration for Troup County Parks and Recreation spring sports is open until Feb. 5.

Youth baseball, girls softball, soccer and track are all $60 per player and registration can be completed at the Mike Daniel Recreation Center, 1220 Lafayette Parkway in LaGrange.

The cost of registration includes a uniforms, and depending on the sport, socks, hats and shin guards, said J.J. Kuerzi, the recreation department’s facilities manager.

“The only thing you need would be a glove for baseball or softball, but we provide everything else,” Kuerzi said.

A variety of other extracurricular activities are also available through the recreation department, including ballet, taekwondo swimming and golf.

Registration for most extracurricular activities is open throughout the program and is not subject to the Feb. 5 deadline for spring sports, with the exception of golf at the First Tee of Troup County.

Fees for activities range from $30 to $75 and specifics about each activity are available at the Mike Daniel Recreation Center.

Kuerzi recommended recreation department sports as a way for youngsters to release some energy and gain self esteem.

“It’s a good opportunity for kids to be involved in something positive and be proud of their accomplishments outside of the classroom,” she said.

Registration forms and more information can be found at www.trouprec.org or by calling 706-883-1670.
