Lafayette Christian teams collect road wins

The Lafayette Christian School Lady Cougars got a much-needed win on Thursday, beating home-standing Grace Christian 50-45.

The Lady Cougars led 19-17 at the half, with Rory Kloster knocking down a pair of 3-pointers in the first two quarters to help her team take the lead.

It remained tight in the second half, and Emily Fain hit a clutch free throw late to help the Lady Cougars hold on for the win.

Kloster had a big night for the Lady Cougars, scoring 25 points before fouling out with one minute remaining.

Kloster also had 11 rebounds, four steals and a block.

Abbey Hudson, who made four 3-pointers, added 20 points, and she also had four steals.

Devon Taylor did some great work inside with 16 rebounds and a steal.

In the boys’ game, the unbeaten Cougars rolled to a 69-32 win to improve to 16-0 overall, and 11-0 in the region.

Marcus Mobley had a stellar all-around effort with the school’s first-ever triple-double.

Mobley, a senior post player, had 11 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals.

Antaveis Sands led the Cougars with 16 points, and he also had five steals.

Jemi Reed contributed 13 points with six assists and five steals, and Gregory Benefield had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Lafayette Christian will host Arlington Christian today, with the girls’ game set to tip off at 5:30 p.m., and the boys’ game to follow.
