Investigators with the LaGrange Police Department are searching for three people who robbed a man at gunpoint Wednesday evening as he was returning to his apartment.

Officials said the victim was walking in the parking lot of the Lee’s Crossing Apartments at 119 Old Airport Road about 7:30 p.m. when he was stopped by three young men.

The victim stated two of the robbers pointed a gun at him and demanded his property.

According to investigators, the victim refused and kept walking up the stairs to his apartment.

The victim told police that is when one of the robbers hit him in the face and another male grabbed his computer bag. Then all three suspects took off in different directions, the victim told police.

Investigators said the man described the robbers as black males with slender builds, about 5-foot-8 and 16 to 20 years old.

The victim told officers one of the males was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and the other two had on shorts.

Investigators said a similar incident occurred Sunday evening, after a man at the same apartment complex also reported being approached by three people, one armed with a gun, who attempted to rob him. The victim in that case yelled for family members in his apartment to call police and the robbers fled without taking anything.

Car crash

LaGrange police are also investigating a crash just before 2 a.m. Wednesday on South Ogletree Street near Colquitt Street.

When officers arrived, they said the driver of an Isuzu Trooper was laying in the roadway after being thrown from the SUV.

According to the report, the victim was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment where he was listed in critical but stable condition this morning.

Officers said the preliminary investigation showed the driver of the Isuzu Trooper was northbound on South Ogletree Street at high speed when he missed a curve and the SUV entered the southbound lane.

Police said the SUV collided with a Nissan Maxima, left the roadway and flipped or vaulted, throwing the SUV’s driver from the vehicle. No information about the Maxima driver was available as of press time this morning.

Police were still investing the collision this morning.
