LaGRANGE —A teenager is recovering Monday morning after being assaulted during an attempted robbery at a home in the 200 block of Handley Street just after 1 p.m. Saturday.

The 16-year-old victim told LaGrange police officers he had just arrived at his aunt’s house and was walking through the door when he was approached by two men he knew only as “Brandon” and “Man Man.”

According to the teen, as he entered the apartment, “Brandon” allegedly grabbed him from behind and placed him in what he described as a choke hold while telling the other subject to “hurry up and go in his pockets.”

The victim advised that during the struggle, he and “Brandon” fell through the front door, onto the living room floor of the residence, while “Man Man” searched his pockets for anything of value.

Police stated the incident was witnessed by the victim’s aunt, who was able to fight off the suspects by striking “Brandon” in the head and threatening to call the police. Both suspects fled the scene.

The victim described “Brandon” as an African American male with a light complexion, 5’10 in height with a heavy build and approximately 20 years of age. He told police “Man Man” was also an African-American male with a dark complexion, approximately 5-foot-10 with a slender build.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706 883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706 812-1000.

Deputies of the Troup County Sheriff’s Office continue their search for a man who held up the Marathon gas station at 4584 Hamilton Road at gunpoint Saturday night.

According to TCSO investigators, an unknown African-American male entered the store about 9:10 p.m. and approached the clerk with a small handgun and demanded money.

Investigators said once the suspect got an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled from the business and and jumped into a white Volvo.

The suspect was wearing a black hoodie with the words “BLACK LIVES MATTER” in white on the back, stated investigators.

They also believe the car possibly had two other occupants inside who did not enter the store during the robbery.

Anyone with any information about this case is asked to call Troup County Sheriff’s Office investigators at 706-883-1616 or Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
