LAGRANGE – It’s a simple enough scenario for LaGrange Academy’s basketball teams.

If they win their opening games in the GISA Region 1-AA tournament, they’ll earn their invitations to the state tournament.

A loss, on the other hand, would mean the end of the season.

LaGrange Academy’s teams will try to avoid that fate when they hit the court today, and they’ll both have the benefit of playing on their home floor.

LaGrange Academy is serving as the host site for the tournament that began on Monday and goes through Friday when the region champions will be crowned.

The Warriors are the tournament’s number three seed, and they’ll play sixth-seeded Flint River Academy in today’s final game at 8:30 p.m.

The Lady Warriors are seeded fifth, and they’ll play fourth-seeded Solid Rock at 7 p.m.

The winner of today’s games will qualify for the final four on Thursday while also securing a spot in the GISA state tournament.

The Warriors have beaten Flint River twice, most recently on Jan. 23 when they won 64-35 behind 27 points from senior Whit Moreman.

The Lady Warriors, meanwhile, split their two regular-season meetings with Solid Rock.

In the most recent game, the Lady Warriors won 38-37 in overtime, and they followed that up with a win over Griffin Christian to put together their first winning streak of the season.

The Lady Warriors are the defending region champions, although the five starters from that team have all graduated.
