LaGrange, Callaway meet on tennis court

LAGRANGE – The Callaway and LaGrange tennis teams faced off on Thursday in a county showdown.

It was LaGrange coming out on top, with the Grangers winning 4-1, and the Lady Grangers taking a 5-0 win.

In the girls’ match, Euna Oh beat Taylor Townsend 7-5, 6-4 at number one singles, Abigail Brock topped Dori Cook 6-0, 6-1 at number two singles, and Abbi Lynn Lanier got past Brooke Townsend 6-3, 6-0 at number three singles.

LaGrange also won both of the doubles matches.

At number one doubles, Lizzie Wilkerson and Kaylee Key beat Yeji Kim and Alice Lin 6-2, 6-1, and Elise Lee and Kinsleigh Stephens topped Brianna Neese and Baylee Starling 6-0, 5-2, with that match ending early because of an injury.

In the boys’ match, Callaway got its lone win at number one singles, and it was an exciting one, with Jay Ryn edging Blade Kendall 2-6, 6-2 (10-4).

LaGrange won the other four matches.

At number two singles, Pierce Skinner beat Eric Kim 6-1, 6-4, and Tony Choi handled Gabriel Moultrie 6-0, 6-0 at number three singles.

At number one doubles, Jas Singh and Gavin Battle beat Keegan Woods and Henry Hetzel 6-0, 6-0, and Tiger Lakhwani and Jin Jun beat John Bok and Chahnakhaten Settles 6-1, 6-1 at number two doubles.
