A LaGrange woman told police Monday her vehicle was stolen from her home.

Officers went to the woman’s home in the 1200 block of Murphy Avenue about 1:30 p.m. and met the woman, who told officers her 2000 Honda Passport was taken some time between Saturday and Monday, according to police reports.

The woman told police her father had been working on the vehicle and had left the keys in a cup holder inside the SUV. She also said her cousin had contacted her over the weekend and said he’d heard about a stolen vehicle matching the description of her SUV. She thought it was a practical joke.

The vehicle, bearing Georgia tag PVF9009, was valued at $3,000. Police issued a look-out bulletin and are investigating.

The employee reported that the theft happened some time between midday Saturday and Monday morning, according to the police report of the incident.

Woman allegedly lifts pants from department store

Police are investigating a misdemeanor shoplifting Monday evening at Belks department store in the LaGrange Mall on Lafayette Parkway.

A Belks security guard told police a white woman came into the store and picked up three pairs of Under Armour pants, entered a changing room and came out empty handed, according to the police report.

The woman exited the store and set off a magnetic security alarm, the security guard said. When he checked the changing rooms, the Under Armour pants were not found.

The woman ran out of the store and left the parking lot in a gold Volkswagen driven by a white man. The vehicle left the parking lot headed eastbound on Lafayette Parkway, the report states.

Police took copies of the surveillance video and are investigating the incident.
