LAGRANGE – Rain was the big winner on Tuesday.

The baseball teams from Callaway, LaGrange and Troup were all set to play games on Tuesday, but none of them were able to take the field because of the heavy rain that moved through the area.

The LaGrange Grangers (1-1) were set to host Newnan on Tuesday, but the game has been pushed back to March 2 at 5:30 p.m.

Troup (1-0) also had a home game scheduled for Tuesday against East Coweta, and that game will be played on March 2 as well, with first pitch set for 5:30 p.m.

Callaway (1-1) had a road game against Alexander scheduled for Tuesday, and they will try to play again today.

Rain also impacted the LaGrange College baseball team.

The Panthers were supposed to make their long-awaited home debut on Tuesday against Birmingham-Southern, but the game wasn’t played.

The game will be made up on March 15 at Birmingham-Southern as part of a double-header.

LaGrange College has played 11 games, and they’ve all been on the road.

The Panthers were supposed to host Wabash last weekend, but that series was moved to the Perfect Game LakePoint Complex in Emerson because of unplayable conditions at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium.

LaGrange College will begin its USA South schedule with a three-game series at Covenant beginning on Friday.

The Panthers, unless Mother Nature interferes again, will play their first home game on March 4 against Piedmont, nearly a month after the season began.

Despite playing all of their games away from home, the Panthers are off to an 8-3 start, and they’ve won five consecutive games.
