CARROLLTON – The Troup Tigers bounced back from their first region loss of the season in impressive fashion.

After falling to the Carrollton Trojans 8-5 on their home field on Wednesday, the Tigers were the visiting team on Friday, and they cruised to an 11-1 win in a game that ended after six innings because of the run rule.

Troup took two-of-three from Carrollton last week to improve to 5-1 in Region 5-AAAA, and it is tied with Whitewater for the region’s top spot.

Senior pitcher Bo Halcomb, making his first start of the season, had his way with the Trojans in Friday’s series finale, giving up just one hit in six innings, and Winston Turner got the final three outs in the sixth inning.

At the plate, Troup took charge with two runs in the top of the first.

Turner, who had four hits, had an RBI triple, and Miles Cameron drove in a run with a single.

Troup added another run in the top of the third when Ryan Bliss doubled and scored on Turner’s two-out, RBI single.

Carrollton scored its lone run in the top of the third on a Roury Glanton sacrifice fly, and Troup responded by scoring four runs in the fourth inning, with Halcomb providing the big blow with a two-run triple.

The Tigers put the game away in the sixth inning.

Turner, Cameron and Colby Bridwell each had RBI hits in the inning.

Turner finished four hits and three RBIs, and Halcomb had three hits and a pair of RBIs.

Colby Williams added three hits, and Bliss had two hits.

Troup will be in Bradenton, Fla. next week for a tournament at the IMG Academy.
