LaGRANGE — A 27-year veteran of the Troup County Fire Department on Tuesday was named the county’s employee of the month for April.

Fire Lt. Roy Cadenhead trains and supervises fire-fighting crews in the suppression of building, wildland and other types of fires, and also manages a fire station.

His duties include the maintenance of fire, rescue and support equipment, providing emergency medical and rescue services to the residents of Troup County and overseeing fire safety inspections, according to the Troup County government.

He maintains records, completes reports and assists the battalion captain with daily shifts. Cadenhead also acts as shift supervisor in the absence of the battalion captain.

“Lt. Cadenhead seeks out productive tasks and is a self-starter,” said Patrick Crews, county commission chairman. “He is always willing to help others and often places the interest of the department and crew above his own.”
