GREENVILLE — The Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two inmates who escaped from the jail.

Sheriff’s officials said Eugene Lamar Mitchell, 34, and Travion Terrell Hall, 29, both of Greenville, escaped from their cell block about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Meriwether County Sheriff’s patrol deputies, K9 units, investigators and outside resources are focused on finding the two men, said law enforcement officials.

Mitchell was last spotted in the Rocky Mount Road area Tuesday night about 11 p.m., officials said. Mitchell changed out of the orange jump suit into different clothing.

Investigators described Mitchell as a black male, about 5-foot-10, and 155 pounds. He was in jail charged with child molestation, aggravated child molestation, incest, aggravated sexual battery, statutory rape and burglary.

Hall was described as a black male, 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds. Officials said he was charged with a probation violation.

Anyone with any information on the location of either inmate is asked to call 911 or the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office at 706-672-4489.
