PINE MOUNTAIN — Callaway Gardens on the weekend of April 29-30 hosts its new Comedy Weekend.

“Find some friends and make plans to be at Callaway Gardens for the weekend,” said Andy Brown, director of recreation for Callaway Gardens. “We have found some funny people to entertain you. Pair that with some fresh air and outside fun — playing golf, zip lining or kayaking — and you’ve got a great weekend.”

Friday night will include a Movie on the Beach on Robin Lake Beach’s 50-foot inflatable screen. The featured attraction will be the recently released “Daddy’s Home” starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.

On April 29, guests can enjoy the Gardens at their leisure until 6 p.m. when they can enter the Ski Pavilion. The beverage bar will be available beginning at 6 p.m. with the dinner buffet, created by Callaway Gardens’ Executive Chef Michael Gonzalez’s culinary team, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

At 8 p.m., Jamie Bendall will open the show. He is the co-owner of Atlanta’s Punchline Comedy Club. A landmark in Atlanta since 1982, it is considered one of the country’s top 10 comedy clubs. A professional comedian and speaker for more than 23 years, Bendall describes himself as a parent, spouse and a busy owner of multiple small businesses who is permitted to practice law in three states.

Mike Speenberg is the headliner for the comedic event. In the past 15 years, Speenberg has performed on four different continents and shared the stage with everyone from Robin Williams to Ron White. He’s entertained U.S. diplomats to professional athletes and has been featured in a variety of formats from CNN to HBO’s Comedy Festival.

“The setting is what is extra-special about this new event. You are at Callaway Gardens … not in some downtown with traffic to worry about” said Brown. “The Comedy Night overnight package provides a lot of fun for one low price and … we drive you back to your lodging.”

Starting at $250 for two guests in the Mountain Creek Inn, overnight packages include Friday and Saturday night’s lodging, Friday night movie, Saturday dinner, Saturday show and Gardens admission each day of stay and day of departure. Packages also are available for the Lodge, Cottages, Villas or Vacation Homes.

General admission tickets are available for $20. Tickets for the show and dinner are $40. Tickets can be purchased at www.callawaygardens.com/ComedyWeekend or by calling 1-800-463-6990.
