An 18 year old faces several charges after he was accused of shooting at a man on Railroad Street about 12:30 p.m. Monday, then taking the victim’s car and leading police on a short chase.

The suspect, identified as Montel Hadley, was with the 46-year-old victim at Hadley’s home on Railroad Street when the two got into a dispute, said LaGrange police detective Brian Brown. Hadley allegedly fired a gun at the victim, who called police. The victim was uninjured.

Officers were given information that the suspect was leaving the area in a vehicle, states a police press release. Brown said Hadley took the victim’s car, which officers pursued.

The car ran off the road near Shadowlawn Cemetery at East Bacon and Beeman streets. Officers arrested Hadley without incident, Brown said.

Hadley faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, theft by taking a motor vehicle, fleeing and attempting to elude officers and other traffic citations, Brown said.

Anyone with any information on this incident was asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department at 706-883-2603 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
