LaGRANGE — Becky Brown, media specialist at LaGrange Academy, has been awarded a grant from Diverse Power to buy the school new technology, including a 3D printer.

Diverse Power Foundation Inc. is a not-for-profit, charitable corporation that manages funds collected through Diverse Power’s Operation RoundUp. The foundation does this by funding scholarships and grants to education and charitable programs within Diverse Power’s service area.

A volunteer, nine-member board of directors reviews applications for Diverse Power Foundation funds. One of the 2016 grants was awarded to the Susie M. Avery Media Center at LaGrange Academy to help fund the expansion of its Makerspace.

The funds will go towards the purchase of products that will include a LulzBot Mini desktop 3-D printer and Ozobots, “powerful, tiny robot that expands STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and computer science learning through a collection of game based activities and digital apps,” according to the Ozobots website.
