3 teens allegedly steal tractor from college

Three teenagers are facing charges of theft by receiving stolen property and burglary after stealing a John Deere gator tractor from the LaGrange College baseball facility at 425 Forrest Ave. Saturday about 7 p.m.

According to LaGrange police investigators, a person called 911 after witnessing two or three juveniles stealing the tractor from the facility at the baseball field.

Investigators stated the caller described one juvenile as wearing an American flag shirt and another wearing a blue plaid shirt. Officers in the area found and detained a youth wearing sn American flag shirt and another juvenile wearing a blue T shirt after a brief foot chase, investigators said.

Police also discovered a red gas can and a black bag containing spray paint in the same area.

According to investigators, the items were identified as property belonging to LaGrange College.

They also questioned the youths after it was reported someone had stolen John Deer gator tractor valued at $1,000 from the college earlier in the day.

Investigators said the two juveniles allegedly admitted to riding around in the stolen gator before it ran out of gas. They also reportedly identified a third youth as a person of interest.

Investigators stated the juveniles admitted hiding the vehicle in the woods and entering the building at the LaGrange College baseball field where a gas can and some spray paint was taken.

The youths allegedly told investigators the gas was for the gator and the spray paint was as going to be used to change the color of the vehicle.

The third juvenile was later caught and allegedly admitted to the same set of facts.

Two of the suspects are 14 years old, and the other is 13 years old, stated LaGrange police. Their names are withheld due to their age.
