MCDONOUGH – LaGrange High golfer Blakely Arp is moving on.

Arp fired an 88 during Monday’s Class AAAAA state sectional at Heron Bay Golf and Country Club in McDonough, and she placed high enough to advance to the state championship that will be held in two weeks in Augusta.

“It was awesome for her,” LaGrange coach Thomas Crocker said. “She was excited.”

Arp earned her spot in the state sectional with a strong performance at the Region 1-AAAAA tournament that was held at Highland Country Club.

In Monday’s tournament, Arp got better as the day went along to secure her spot in the state championship.

“She did play really well, especially on the back,” Crocker said. “She shot 46-42. She really kept it together and played good. She really only had two bad holes, and one really bad hole. She kept it together most of the day, played really consistent. It was good. We’re excited.”
