2 suspects allegedly stole 5-ton truck

WEST POINT — Two suspects on the run from Harris County sheriff’s deputies were in custody Tuesday morning after a multi-agency manhunt Monday.

The two males, whose identities have not been released, led Harris County deputies on a chase into Troup County just before noon Monday after allegedly stealing a 5-ton truck, according to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office.

The men abandoned the truck in an area off Mote Road near Highway 18 and fled on foot.

Deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office and troopers with the Georgia State Patrol were called in to help Harris County deputies search the woods for the two men.

According to officials with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, investigators also discovered another 5-ton truck abandoned, and possibly stolen, in the same area.

As of press time, there was no further details available on how or where the two suspects were apprehended.
