Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office continue to search for the man they believe robbed Billy’s Country Store at 25 Harmony Church Road at gunpoint about 6:55 a.m. Monday.

Capt. Mike Caldwell, sheriff’s chief of investigations, said deputies are trying to track down Steven Michael Smith, 31, of Roanoke, Alabama.

Smith is allegedly the person seen on video surveillance footage inside the store.

Caldwell said the man in the video stuck a gun in the employee’s face and demanded cash from the register. He then took an undisclosed amount of cash and left in a four-door gray or silver car.

Troup County investigators are working with the Roanoke Police and Chambers County (Ala.) Sheriff’s departments to take Smith into custody.

Anyone with any information about Smith’s whereabouts is asked to call the Troup County Sheriff’s Office at 706-883-1616 or Troup County Crime Stoppers at 706-812-1000.
