The Daily News is placing a moratorium on letters to the editor endorsing local candidates or otherwise speaking about specific local political candidates beginning at midnight. No such letters will be accepted between Saturday, May 7, and the May 24 primary. The Daily News also reserves the right to refuse any letters making accusations that cannot be verified or considered unmerited mud-slinging. If editorial staff feel a letter merits a response from a candidate, that candidate will be given the opportunity and the response will be included in the letter as an addendum.
