LaGRANGE — Four area students have been awarded the Hooper Knight Memorial Scholarship by the West Georgia Homebuilders Association.

This year the association is celebrating 29 years of awarding scholarships to local high school students who are pursuing careers in the building related field.

Along with their career goals, the student must be involved in various activities in school and their community and also be in the top 25 percent of their class.

Students receiving scholarships this year include Parker Railey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Brent Railey; Alexis Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Lee Davis; Peyton Knox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Knox; and Bethany Duquette, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Duquette.

The Hooper Knight Memorial Scholarship was established by the West Georgia Homebuilders Association in 1987 in memory of Hooper Knight, a longtime Troup County builder and member of the association.

Membership in West Georgia Home Builders Association is open to anyone in the building industry or a related field such as bankers, Realtors and sub-contractors.
