A parolee who failed a drug test faces felony obstruction charges after she allegedly fought and escaped from officers Tuesday morning.

A LaGrange officer went to the Troup County Probation Office at 316 N. Lewis St. to assist after the parole officer said he was going to arrest the woman, identified as Alisha Green, whose age and address were unavailable. The LaGrange officer reported that as the parole officer tried to handcuff her, she struggled with him and fled into another room, where they struggled more and she ran from the office.

Officers searched the area, but couldn’t find Green.

The parole officer’s thumb, wrist and elbow were injured and he complained of knee pain, the patrol officer reported. Green also allegedly caused more than $500 damage to a sliding glass door at the building during the incident.

Man cited after police find emaciated dog

An officer issued a LaGrange man citations including animal cruelty after police found a “severely emaciated” pit bull chained behind a home in the 800 block of Stonewall Street on Tuesday.

LaGrange police officers searched the area after an anonymous tip and found the animal with no food, water or shelter. They took the dog to be evaluated by a vet, who confirmed the dog was food-deprived. Officers then took it to the Animal Shelter and placed it in a pen with food and water.

When the owner attempted to pick up the pit bull, he was cited for having an unregistered pit bull, no proof of rabies, animal cruelty and violation of the city’s tethering ordinance.

A man wanted for probation violation allegedly fled into and hid underneath a home in the first block of Eleanor Street after an officer spotted him Tuesday evening.

The officer searched the house before finding him in the crawl space, which the suspect refused to leave, the officer said. The officer was able to arrest the man, who was charged with misdemeanor obstruction.
